“The Cosmic Divine is the totality of existence - the unfolding Universe, infinite and impersonal, yet the source of all wonder and life.”
Frequently asked questions
No. While many atheists value science and critical inquiry—values we also share—Cosmic Divinity is not an atheistic worldview. We acknowledge that human knowledge is limited and that the universe contains mysteries beyond current understanding.
Cosmic Divinists respect the world’s religious traditions as sincere attempts to interpret the unknown. Where we differ is in how we understand the Force of Creation: not as a human-like deity with intentions, but as a vast cosmic phenomenon that transcends human categories, language, and imagination.
Cosmic Divinity does not claim to replace or invalidate any established religion. We view all religions—monotheistic and polytheistic—as human efforts to grapple with the ineffable.
Our main departures from traditional religions are:
We do not see humanity as the center of creation. The universe was not made for us.
We do not impose dogma, rituals, or moral codes. Our Codices offer a philosophical framework for individual and collective well-being, but they are voluntary and not prescriptive.
We emphasize personal reflection, scientific curiosity, and humility. We strive to understand our place in the cosmos without assuming we are the focal point of its design.
Cosmic Divinity recognizes no Hell. The Cosmic Divine does not judge, condemn, or punish human beings, and we do not believe in a realm of eternal torment.
What some traditions call “Heaven” may partially align with our teaching that the essence of our being—our soul—returns to and becomes one with the Cosmic Divine after death. We do not claim to know what that state is like, only that it lies beyond the limits of human perception and experience.
Cosmic Divinists do not assume human beings are the purpose of creation. Instead, we see the universe as a vast, dynamic phenomenon that likely operates according to principles beyond human comprehension.
Our purpose arises from how we choose to live, create, and contribute—not from a predetermined cosmic plan.
The Books of the Cosmic Divine are foundational texts that outline the core philosophy, Codices, and cosmological reflections of our community. They are not considered sacred scripture in the traditional sense, but rather an evolving body of ideas intended to be explored, questioned, and expanded upon.
The 10 Tenets of the Community of the Cosmic Divine are guiding principles that help individuals cultivate balance, compassion, humility, and cosmic awareness. They are not commandments, and following them is entirely voluntary. They are intended to inspire personal reflection and support a meaningful life within the vastness of existence.
Cosmic Divinity holds a simple foundational principle: the Cosmic Divine does not morally judge human sexuality.
Any loving, consensual relationship—whether same-sex, heterosexual, or poly-partnered—can contribute positively to human flourishing and community well-being.
While real-world relationships can be complex, sexuality itself is not inherently sinful or “wrong” from the perspective of Cosmic Divinity. What matters is mutual respect, compassion, and the well-being of everyone involved.
Cosmic connection refers to the awareness that we are part of a much larger continuum: scientifically through matter and energy, philosophically through our curiosity and consciousness, and spiritually through our relationship to the great unknown.
This awareness can bring clarity, peace, and humility.
